Valentine’s Chocolate Chip Cookies

Wow, is it already time to prepare for Valentine’s Day? I could have sworn it was just the holiday season yesterday. Until I walked into Target and noticed Christmas was on sale and Valentine’s decor was already out, I couldn’t believe it. My kids and I got to work to make our favorite chocolate chip cookies with a Valentine’s twist. This Valentine’s Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe is quick and easy and will make your Valentine swoon!

Here’s are the ingredients you’ll need:

  • 1/2 cup softened unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 overflowing teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2-3/4 cup chocolate chips
  • red gel food coloring

Cooking Instructions

Preheat oven to 350º. Cream the butter and sugars (if using a blender use the low setting). Add the vanilla and egg one by one blending well after each addition. Stir in the salt, baking powder and baking soda, just stirring until you can’t see them anymore (be careful not to over mix). Fold in the flour 1/2 cup at a time until it’s fully blended. Now you can fold in your red food coloring. The amount depends on how dark you want your cookies to be. We added about 10 drops, keeping in mind that they will lighten up when baked. Once the food color is completely blended into the dough, fold in the chocolate chips. Scoop onto baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes or until slightly browned on top. This will make 12 large cookies, or 15 smaller cookies. Your Valentine is sure to enjoy these delicious chocolate chip cookies!
